About the Storehouse

Trade what you have. Receive what you need.

The Storehouse is a direct-barter network. Verified businesses, individuals, and church circles exchange goods and services with one another — a service for a good, a good for a service — and no money ever passes between members. A listing may carry a reference price so both sides can weigh a fair exchange, but it is context only and is never payable.

How it works

  • Listings and requests. A member posts what they have to give, or names what they need alongside what they offer in exchange. Offers can be accepted, declined, or countered — and declining is always free.
  • Rings. Three members trade in a circle: each gives to one and receives from another, and no two trade directly.
  • The Corner. What would otherwise go to waste can be set down for whoever needs it. Gathering from the Corner creates no debt, and no one is ever told who gave or who received.
  • Standing. Every trading member is verified, and ratings come only from completed exchanges. Declining, pausing, or stepping back is never held against anyone.

Where the name comes from

Two old words stand behind the name. A go'el was the kinsman who stepped in for family in need — the near relative who took on what a person could not carry alone. An otsar was the storehouse, the place where provision was gathered in plenty and drawn from in scarcity. A kinsman who steps in, and a storehouse gathered against need: that is what this is meant to be.

The Equb feature is named after and modeled on rotating-savings traditions — the equb of Ethiopian community life and the susu of West African and Caribbean tradition — part of a broader lineage of community economic self-sufficiency this platform is built to honor.

What this is not

There are no credits, points, or balances, and nothing here accumulates into value. There are no rankings and no leagues of members. Money appears only at the boundary — a one-time setup fee and a membership subscription keep verification and tending in place — and nothing paid for confers advantage anywhere in the network.

The Storehouse is a ministry of The Kinsman Storehouse. Membership is open to all.
